Self-Healing Technology

It has happened to all of us. We are on an errand heading for the car, when we get a text message. We hastily reach for our phone and in the rush it slips from our fingers. It hits the concret with a clatter and we let out an audible gasp. The next minute is spent check and double checking to see if our presioucs device has survived its short trip to the ground unscathed. Well reaserchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Chaimpaign are working to make sure that your blackberry can take a beating and keep on tweeting.

This amazing Tech involves microcapsules filled with carbon nanotubes. When the capsules are ruptured the conductive nanotubes are released filling a the gaps in broken circuts. These could be placed on troble areas in electronic devices to extend the life of the device and give us all a little peice of mind.
